The Piton Foundation considers tax credits, especially the Earned Income Tax Credit, an important tool for increasing the economic self-sufficiency of lower-wage workers. In its 2010 statewide outreach campaign, Piton distributed $1.5 million educational materials to increase the number of Colorado families benefitting from these tax credits. Read More. Piton Founder Receives Council on Foundations Honor
Denver oilman Sam Gary, founder of The Piton Foundation 35 years ago, received the 2010 Board Chair Award from the Council on Foundations for his efforts on behalf of low-income children. The award honors business leaders whose philanthropic work and contributions have led to transformative change in their home communities.
