This report was developed by the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative, with funding from The Piton Foundation and Caring for Colorado Foundation.
These two curricula -- for high school and middle school -- were developed for Piton by the Center for Education in Law and Democracy to help Colorado students understand the complexity of the immigration issue in our state and nationally. They include a DVD of "The New Coloradans," a compelling 30-minute documentary produced by Rocky Mountain PBS (note: The curricula can be downloaded but the DVD must be ordered by calling 303-825-6246).

This survey conducted in March 2008 with 700 households in Denver asked parents what they value when selecting a preschool program. (August 2008) Appendix D: Descriptive Results of Each Survey Question This study examines the reliability and validity of the Early Childhood Standards Assessment of Readiness Tool used with 1,100 children in 15 preschool agencies in Denver (June 2008). This report describes the role and scope of services of early childhood providers in Denver, how well these organizations collaborate, and what types of data are available across the system. (May 2008). This report outlines early childhood servies in Colorado, including early care and education; health; mental health; and, parent/family support services (January 2008).
The Piton Foundation examined the Denver Public Schools' pension plan and its role in recruiting and retaining educators as demographics and social trends have changed. Researchers at The Piton Foundation analyzed how far students in Denver, Aurora and Mapleton school districts must travel to reach a school rated "high" or "quality" by the state of Colorado.
This report was commissioned by The Piton Foundation and Donnell-Kay Foundation to uncover promising practices in Colorado schools that are beating the odds in terms of their ability to close the achievement gap for economically disadvantaged students.
